Maarten began his career in the insurance industry in 2005 and joined Rothbury in 2025.
He has extensive experience working with some of New Zealand’s largest companies, government departments, and clients with complex risk management needs — particularly in the power and energy sectors, and across large property portfolios. Maarten has a strong customer service focus, always looking to go above and beyond for his clients. With experience in underwriting, claims, and broking, he has a well-rounded understanding of the insurance process and enjoys supporting his team wherever he can. He’s looking forward to working with the Wellington business community and continuing to grow his knowledge across new industries and trades.

Outside of work, Maarten enjoys live music events, exploring New Zealand’s incredible nature, and socialising with friends over a good beer and meal.
Originally from Belgium, he’s fluent in Dutch, an amateur historian, and a keen home brewer. Maarten loves Wellington for its vibrant food scene, proximity to stunning coastal areas, and easy access to regions like the Wairarapa, Kapiti Coast, and Marlborough. He’s a regular at local events like CubaDupa and the Newtown Festival.
